Machi-zukuri Center “Tsubakizaka”

Tsubakizaka is an area blessed with historical resources such as the ruins of Ishibashi tile kilns, and is home to a rich satoyama landscape including the rice terraces of Kamiide. It is also the setting for the Shimoobi Love Story in the Yamato Monogatari, a novel written in the mid-Heian period.

This facility was built to resemble an old farmhouse, making use of the satoyama landscape, and consists of three buildings, including a community building equipped with a hearth and cooking stove, and an activity building where people can do things like pottery.

Opening hours: 9:00am – 4:00pm (Closing time may be earlier depending on weather and usage)

Closed: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, national holidays, summer (August) and New Year's holidays

Access: 1.2 km east from JR Tamamizu Station. About 20 minutes on foot. Free parking is available.
