Matsu-no-shitatsuyu(Monument to Emperor Godaigo)
This monument is inscribed with a verse from a 14th century historical epic recounting how the Emperor Godaigo (1288 - 1339) rested under a pine tree while fleeing the shogunate's army. Typical of the times, there is romanticism in the description of the dew dripping on him from the tree under which ne once took a rest.
