Rokkaku-ido (Hexagonal Well)
The hexagonal well reportedly was located on the grounds of the Tamai-no-Tongu(a temporary enshrinement site) built for the Emperor Shomu (701-756) by his local administrator and advisor Moroe Tachibana (684-757). Tachibana's residence was also located here, so it has been touted as the well of Moroe Tachibana.
This well is called the “hexagonal well” because it is made up of six stone slabs that are set in place and form a hexagon shape.
Access: About 1.0km from JR Tamamizu Station, about 15 minutes on foot.
